How to Make the Quite Appealing Cocktail

Markdrinks, recipe

It’s a pun, but the peel really does make a difference in this drink. It’s a simple drink that’s well-balanced and makes a great choice for any holiday parties you’re hosting or even just hanging out with friends.

To begin with, I’m glad I found a good use for the Botanist gin. Aside from the absolutely gorgeous bottle, and who doesn’t appreciate a beautiful bottle, I love this Islay gin and its unique flavor. I’ve just always had trouble finding a good match for it in a cocktail. It turns out my problem was I was always trying to fight against the great flavors in the gin. A light hand with extra ingredients lets Botanist shine while adding some added depth to make a great cocktail.

Another joy for me is using the Creme de Noyaux from Tempus Fugit. This liqueur is amazing and is reminiscent of amaretto. Even though it tastes like almonds, it’s made with apricot and cherry pit kernels. How does that work? Science, I guess. Creme de Noyaux is fairly sweet, but using it with an aggressive gin like Botanist ends up with a nice balance.

Now before you make this cocktail at home, a word of advice. Don’t skip the grapefruit. It seems like such a minor thing, but expressing the oils of the grapefruit brings this drink up a notch. It takes a hint of those citrus oils to make this drink even more balanced.

When you’re done you’ll have a great drink and one that I think fits perfectly in the holidays. You can thank the Creme de Noyaux for that.
